Thanks Tony. I might try that. Won't have to buy an airbrush and gear to do it. I may need a bit more info tho.

Do you just cover the eyes or are you replacing them?

That was my thinking also and I didn't want the clean up hassle...they come with 3d natural looking eyes but I like red eyes so I buy the red 3d eyes from Jann's...I believe they're 1/4" but I'd have to check to make sure...one lil note...you're not going to save any money by the time you buy hooks, rings, clear coat and your paint unless you do a whole bunch of em but you can paint up some colors that you know will work on certain lakes and they will catch fish but you already know that lol...last 3-4 trips out they've out fished the bandits for me....good luck and yes JW those carp are tough on your equipment...that was my second encounter with damage this summer and only running trolling motor ta boot!

Nice catch and custom lures! I dabbled in making custom cranks in my bass fishing days. A little spray paint, glitter, and paint pens is all you need.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410289215.553874.jpg

When you can get C55 blanks for .75 it sounds like I can save at least a few bucks apiece. Give me tha scoop on the eyes when you can. I need to know where to get the clean also. Thanks for the help Tony.

the eyes are 1/4" or 6mm 3D Holographic and come from a seller on EBAY called fish junkie....I use #3 split rings from Jann's and I've used both Eagle Claw Lazers from Walmart and Gamakatsu red hooks from Jann's size #6 on tail and #4 on the belly...the Lazers are plenty good enough and cheaper to boot....the clear coat is Environmental Tech EnviroTex Pour-On High Gloss Finish 1/2 gallon kit from Amazon...it's pricy but should last a very long time...if you're just gonna do a few....Sally Henson Tough as nails clear finger nail polish/protector will get you by but the Envirotex looks and holds up better to the gar bites....that's about all I know on the subject....good luck and have fun....it's sure fun watching that pole bow back on one you painted yourself!!
