I hate to hear this happen to anybody! About 15 years ago my boat got CLEANED OUT while being stored inside for the winter! Rods/reels, tackle boxes, rain suits, tool box ... you name it, they got it. Insurance took care of a lot, but there was a LOT of discontinued stuff that could not be replaced. It still haunts me!

Just unbelievable, people have nerves of steel I guess...along with no morals. I worry about my place down there too, there is a state trooper that lives right down the street from my place though.

It's nothing new, back in the 80s when bass tournaments really took off there was a bunch of stuff stolen out of boats at the Pelican restaurant while guys were inside eating breakfast.

Last spring I had both fish finders lifted off my boat while parked under the carport. They must have got spooked, because they only got one transponder. Now I store the boat inside unless I have a project in the garage.

I heard of some guys who had rods stolen off the boat's deck, while they were in a McDonald's drive through early in the morning. Can't confirm this, but I guess it could have happened.

Maybe we all need to help one another out and be vigilant around the boat ramps and camp areas, hotels, etc and look for such dirtbags. They normally stand out like a basketball on a football field, if we someone or a vehicle that just don't appear right for the area, make a mental note or snap a photo of the vehicle that seems suspicious, we all have cell phones, most with cameras, or just write the info down. May be nothing, but then again it may help catch these dirtbags and help out a fellow outdoorsman. I will try and heed and do my part from now on.
