Default Humminbird or Lowrance, which one?

I am looking to purchase a new depth finder with side imaging capabilities, and internal GPS. I currently have a Humminbird 798CI HD SI and a Humminbird 688 CI HD. I am looking for something with a bigger screen with about a $3000 budget. Currently my Humminbird 798CI HD has less than 100hrs and this weekend I was in 40' of water and the depths were going from 491' 300' all over the place. The 688 is only a month old and I used it this weekend and the GPS did work the first time I turned it on, had to turn it off and back on for it work. Also Lakemasters does not have any of the three lakes I fish in in Oklahoma. They are:

Bell Cow that was completed in 1990 and is mostly flooded timer and is 1070 acres.
Wes Watkins that is 1142 acres and was completed on 1997 and also has alot of flooded timber.
Broken Bow that was completed in 1970 and is 14,200 acres.

I also have the Navionics Hotmaps and it only has Broken Bow lake.

I keep hoping Lake Master and Navionics will eventually contain all three, I did a request to add the lakes about 1 year and 9 months ago, and the latest updated lake listing still did not show them, so I dont know if and when they will add them. It looks like Lake Insight contains all three of these lakes in standard definition.

I have read pros and cons about both Humminbird and Lowrance units and was checking to see what others may recommend. Needless the issues I have had with my Humminbirds are making me question my decision to use Humminbirds.

Any feedback or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    Lowrance downscan ,
    Hbird side scan,
You could get an Onix for that kind of money if I'm reading correctly.
Also, I have a great Garmin 840xs, set up I'm selling at a loss.
It's side image is pretty amazing as it uses chirp technology on side and down images.
I should keep it but I can't keep both my fish finders, my marriage being important also!

I have Lowrance Touch units and they're great. With the HDS units you can make your own maps using Insight Genesis. Humminbird makes great units and offers mapping also, I'm not sure what units are capable though.

    gfortelney,
Do you want to try and get your current Humminbirds working right? If so, just send me an e-mail. gwalters at johnsonoutdoors dot com

With the AutoChart software you ca make your own maps of any lake and view them not only on your computer but also on your LakeMaster map card capable Humminbird unit. the ONIX units have the capability to make the maps live as you move around the lake.

Just placed an order today for new Onix 10 SI from David @ shut-up-and-fish. If you ever need anything shoot him a PM and get a quote, excellent guy to do business with.

I think that you've made the right choice. Your going to like the onix.
Also the auto charts live works really well.in addition to the mapping, the oiix will do live si or live 360 mosiac mapping.all of this can be overlaid over Navionics or lakemaster.
I no its a lot more money , but I recommend the 360 also. Gps,2nd , along with 360 are my main fishing tools now. (All that other stuff that the onix does is Kool also)

Don't forget the purpose of the sonars. A person can get mesmerized with gadgets. I am guilty. It took me a while to get past the "pretty Picture" phase. Back to basics part #2. Go fish not photos shopping to show off your unit. Any and all will do the job.job. It boils down to bucks on the counter top.

Yeah, but some do it better than others.
