Default What's you guys thoughts on a Triton

One MS specific related issue for any deep v hull to consider... The nose is so deep, it's impossible to nose into the corp lakes far/close enough not to get your feet wet. For the young and spry, no big deal I suppose, but for an older fella....like G, for example, it might be a huge issue. Or even if you fish with a lot of geezers. Also, if u get one and it doesn't have a hambys or at least a keel guard of some sort, you are asking for heart burn.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

Well, here's my .02. When we were boat hunting, every Ranger we checked out had a Hamby's keel protector. I'm assuming they came from the factory that way. The first time we took our 619vs (which is the 06 version of the 690) to Grenada, I was worried about picking Paul up at the ramp. Well, here's the deal, I nosed up directly on the ramp and when Paul stepped in, the boat barely moved. It didn't roll to the side, it just sat there, solid as a rock. Now, if you haven't seen Paul, he's 6'7" and 300+ pounds. Did the same thing when we loaded up and the first thing I did afterward was look at the bottom of the hull. It was just a pretty as it was before we launched.

The quality of the Ranger exceeds any boat I have ever owned or fished out of. Ranger boats hold their value very well and the fact that it has a newer motor on it is a plus. If you haven't already, get on walleye central's classifieds and compare. Also do a search on their forums for the year boat you're looking at because I'm sure there will be some discussions on it.

You are quite welcome to take a ride in ours, if you'd like. It's 8 years old and looks newer. No stress cracks and I can't say enough about how solid it is. We were on Grenada at spring camp when the lake was ROLLING, just to see how it would do and we were impressed.

Bottom line is what are you willing to pay for it and be happy with your decision. Since we bought ours, the Evinrude blew up and we replaced it with a new Yamaha 4 stroke. Not happy about having to spend that money, but this is a keeper boat. We knew when we bought it that when the time came we would re-power instead of selling the whole rig. Just didn't plan on having to re-power so darn soon!

    Dang thing is wide too!!!!!!!
Larry ask Yikes how Vonna and Paul's boat rides, him and Paul unloaded it after camp that Saturday, only fools at the ramp when Ms Tammy and I drove through. They went for a test ride, Yikes can tell ya the rest.
