    Default Lock your trailers!

A friend of mine has a two week old 18ft Lowe boat and trailer. Today he no longer has a trailer! Someone stole it off his truck at the Bernice bridge ramp in broad daylight today while he was out taking his daughter fishing.

Good Grief!! That's sickening! What do you do with your boat now? It's a weekend, and even if it's open all day Saturday, I'd be willing to bet the dealer where he bought his rig doesn't have a "spare" trailer so your friend can at least get his new boat out of the water!? Hopefully there's a marina nearby where he can put the boat in a slip!

OMG, that is terrible. But, even with a lock, they probably will still get your trailer. I've even heard of having the ball unbolted and the whole deal taken. SMH, some people!

Let me know what he did......someone tried to get mine last month. I had a special trailer lock on it but they beat the lock all up with a chisel. Damaged my lock but could not get it off...... beenwondering ever since what I would have done had they got it.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

We do a lot of night fishing on our home lake!! Someone tried to get our boat trailer. It was locked!! so they lossened up our lug nuts on our trailer tires!!! The spare tire was locked to!! Down the road a couple miles the trailer tire came off!!! Lost the tire but by devine intervention!!! someone looking over us it did not damage the lug bolts!! Had some spare lug nuts on my spare tire!! We put the spare on!! Messed up my finder on trailer(repaired) all is well!!! The point is mark the lug nuts on your trailer with paint so you can tell if the lug nuts have been turned!!!(carry some spare) This all happened at 2:30 in the morning!!! I had to be at work at 6:30 am!!!

This is my fear of leaving my trailer behind. It is insured but doesn't lock. I need to invest in locking system. Anyone suggest a good one?

Weld your nut on the ball, master or Reese make decent locks, use cable instead of safety chain and lock it to your truck. Make it hard for them. In the end all it does is keep an honest man honest. Can't stop a thief.

If it does happen a 16' flatbed trailer will work in a pinch. Actually knew a guy that had a 1672 jon, and that's all he ever used is a dual axel 16' flatbed.

Never really thought about that, another reason to keep my 20 foot tandem axle trailer around, don't use it much but sho is handy.
