Hey y'all. I'm new to this site and new to summer crappie fishing.I have been bass fishing and spring crappie fishing here on douglas lake in tennesse now for bout 16 years. I have been improving my catch by getting better with my electronics .I pick up a few here and there now rather then nothing like I did when I first started chasingem in summer. Only success has been from trolling crankbaits. My question is how can I get on them and catchem vertically. I'm fishing early morning , round 3am tomorrow and would appreciate any advice. I was thinking of drop shotting with 1/4 jig with grub and #2 hook with minnow bout 18 inches up . I'm using a hummingbird 587ci . I just have a hard time finding them, and when I do their so deep I can't stay on them. Especially when there 30 feet deep in over 100 feet of water.
Welcome from Mississippi.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

If they are 30' deep I would recommend a heavy jig like 1/4 oz.

30ft over 100ft.....rough! You might try drifting (use socks) through that area, watch you electronics closely. Try 1/4oz jigs with a 2" paddle or curly tail. I like to hold a rod in each hand (we're only allowed 2 rods in Colorado) and jig them as I drift over suspending fish.
Crappie, specs, freckles, slabs...call them what ever you want! I'll just call them delicious!dooney LIKED above post
