Hawgdawg, you exactly right, i know i donated to quite a few steak dinners for others last yr . Yeah, i love it when we place, but, i enjoy meeting everyone at the ramp before and after the tourneys. In the last coupla yrs i have learned more about crappie fishing from this group of folks ( especially the ones who fish the tourneys ) than i could have learned in a lifetime. Plus , i met a guy that i love to share a boat with ( RG ) and that i think more of than my own brother!! Like DD said , i consider it a big extended family, the day i stop haveing fun doing the tourneys , i stop fishing them. But i dont see it happening anytime soon, i have a blast even when we only catch one fish, to me that's what it's all about.

It's not about the money for me for sure. I met several new people I consider friends now and heck I plan on driving the 8 or 9 hours just to fish a couple this year to see everyone! Great job this year to everyone who helped build the fj to what it is. Just wish I lived closer to fish them all again this year!

Its hard to argue a 19.5 boat average and a Championship pot that paid over $3000 in prizes...

DD, MCC is holding a Barnett tournament in April. It's a BMO, and I hear an open tournament. I expect the locals will be all over this. Should be huge!

I don't think the FJ is about the money. The more boats ya have, of course the more money there is. Blue, Rees, and the rest of the guys did a great job to help BUILD up the FJ attendance by timing the tourneys in a smart way. Hats off to them.

It seems the guys that gripe the most don't fish the tourneys , and always have an excuse why they don't. Like it being about money, etc. Some even gripe that have NEVER fished a tourney of ANY kind.

It's still the cheapest tournament around. The price has only raised $10 since they first began. Every tournament except the championship, is open to anyone. Everyone has the opportunity to qualify to fish in the championship. We still have a get together or cookout the night before almost every tournament. We still have a good time. No membership fees to join, just show up. I don't know how it could be anymore of a FJ than that.
