    Default I Have A Lemon


    Well after updating software on my Humminbird 898 SI HD and meeting up with Redge on Tenkiller yesterday we have come up with the conclusion that my unit is a lemon. Redge looked at it and tried adjusting and nothing. Then we hooked it up to a different transducer still no luck. Finally we hooked Redge's unit up to my transducer and his worked just fine. At least we ruled out the transducer. So it has to be the unit itself. Redge is going to talk to someone and see what we need to do next. Just makes a guy sick to have a unit for 1 1/2 yrs and drop the kind of money I did and you can't get it to work right. I just hope Humminbird makes it right in the long run. That is the next step before this thing ends up in the bottom of the lake.

    The one time I had to deal with HB they were awesome. Hopefully it will be the same for you.

    Well as I said at the camp that is the experience I had with HB as well several years back. Since then I have been a devoted Lowrance Owner. Hope you get it worked out Jamie without much more frustration. If not well them HB's will not make a trotline weight cause they ain't heavy enough.......Ranger

    No, I haven't contacted them yet. I went and registered it with their select product program. This is suppose to move any work to priority level and adds a year to the warranty. Well all barring it gets approved. Will take up to 7-10 days to hear back if it gets approved. Plus I'm working midnights and I have a tendency to be a little cranky from time to time, may not be a good time to try and sweet talk anyone.

    I know that guy! Been there done that! I hate working midnights. Thankfully I am far enough up the totem pole I don't have to any more unless I want to which is NEVER.

    Jiggin, I had my first HB in 1980 or 81 (the old flasher) I have always had great service from HB. I did own a Lowrance once, but could not get service. Called four times and waited 30 mins. each time and then they would hang my call up. So that is why I have a Humminbird. I talked to a guy that was at the crappie camp and he just removed two lowrance and installed Humminbird. So to each his own as they say. Both unit will help you catch fish when working properly. Hope you find HB customer service as good as it has been for me. dj
