Great find!!! This is bad news for the fishermen of Lake Wawasee as I see this as Big Money Winning. Means they can't anchor and fish or fish their docks and can only fish it by the method of trolling inside the 200' limit on their private shoreline of a public lake and in this case,,,is our largest natural lake in the entire state. How long is this going to take for other land owners to petition DNR for the same results elsewhere?

I can't remember the last time I tossed an anchor (and with spot lock... I'll send my bill to minn kota! LOL)... and the bass guys probably don't even own one. Glad 90% of the people have no idea what "the two white thingys are on the back" of my boat! LOL Lastly, can't wait to have the court rule on the definition of "trolling"... good luck with that! Lastly, based on my home lake, I guarantee a lot more home owners will be fined than fishermen! Won't it be hilarious when the folks lobbying for it, will be paying the ticket for their idiot kids mistakes!
Ask me about: Bobby Garland, CrappiePro, Yeti Coolers, Power-Pole, and Simms Products!

This would be interesting because the rest of the lake would be available to fish by the shore except the property(ies) owned by these three entities (anchoring that is). You could still "troll" through the area though.

I totally disagree with the judgement! 175 ft? Really? who needs that kind of space?

It just sets an example for other lawsuits to follow. Bad deal.

lol locator, or a drawing system to fish each lake.

should get a convoy of trollers to constantly troll/drift that area. stand up in the boat as you pass with big binoculars. lol hey, must be something to see there, if they dont want you to see.

Can't remember the exact dates,,maybe it was early 80's tho..on Lake Wawasee,,,Indiana Bass Fed. worked with IDNR to build a larger ramp system and larger parking lot for all boaters to use,,in all the meetings the cottage associations, and private shoreline owners, beat it down. DNR had the land then,,,don't know now. DNR had a study on Wawasee in 2007 or 08 that there are too many boats on that particular body of water and alot of the lake is shallow with the props destroying the bottom of the lake and on heavy boating days, muddying the water to where its harming the ecology of the water itself. They have a real problem up there. If I were a private shoreline owner,,and approached DNR to do the same thing and DNR turned me down, with a good attorney, and this appeal going thru, you will eventually see more private shoreline owners all over the state get this approval from DNR I bet. Its just the beginning of certain areas that will have certain restrictions placed on them for fishing. Lots of people anchor to fish for the different species of fish. Lots don't. We have alot of excellent fishing waters that have alot of private shoreline along them and too little good water to go around for the masses.

a lot of those natural lakes are real shallow even a 175 feet from shore but I don t see how anchoring up there would bother any one I would never anchor in 5 foot of water to fish for perch anytime they are rarely that shallow it must be meant to apply to party boats
