This is not the case with female white bass eggs because they do not need to be suspended to remain viable.

We have seen some fish that had characteristics of both white bass and hybrids. We have been documenting these fish with pictures and genetic samples. We eventually plan to find if they are indeed F2 hybrids (hybrid striped bass x white bass). We are not exactly sure what all of this means. But we figured that at a minim we should document it until be do figure out the implications of these F2 hybrids and their progeny.
Then why stock them where they can reproduce with White Bass ? The Saugeyes are supposedly not stocked in areas with Sauger for that very reason from what I've been told by AGFC personnel ? They once said Stripers will not reproduce` in Arkansas but are doing well in the Arkansas River , just ask anyone who fishes there alot. Stripers reproducing so well there the Commission has raised the limit to 10 and should remove it before they take over .Told folks Stripers and Hybrids eat few Game fish (Crappie , bass , ect) . Can't make me believe that , even crappie eat crappie and Stripers and Hybrids are eating machines.

I think that it was originally thought that they would not reproduce with each other. As of now we have no hard evidence that they are hybridizing. The research that we conduct this fall/winter will shed some light on a few unanswered questions. What are their growth rates? What is their mortality and survival rate? Are they hybridizing? What is their diet? We will also be attempting to get a handle on their density. Gill net data can have a lot of error in regards to assessing density, but it is the only real means of sampling.

Stripers can reproduce in the river because their eggs have a sufficient time to drift in that type of system. I imagine that they did not predict that outcome back in the day.

If I was a betting man, I would bet that white bass eat more game fish fry than hybrid striped bass. There are magnitudes more white bass in the lake than hybrids.

Just about everything eats fingerlings fish. Two years ago when we fished this bite, I caught two crappie in this cove. This year a guide fishing next to us caught a crappie. I wonder what they were feeding on? They were feeding on the same think that the white bass and hybrids were feeding on, bass fingerlings.

I hear they are really good blackened or grilled on the half shell. You just have to prepare and cook them the right way.

Unlike turkey or chicken, the dark meat on whites or hybrids is NO GOOD!! If you neglect to remove it all before frying or grilling, you are quaranteed not to like it. Clean it up and it is good eating!!

The Stripers if 1 to 4 lbs still not coarse meat, remove red from fillets and fry or blacken for fish tacos. Good eating fish on Tacos. Place cooked fish on warm flour tortilla shells. Add marinated Cabbage (with Lime juice), cheese , salsa or salad dressing (recipes on the internet), tomatoes or whatever you like.
