What does a hybrid striped bass eat ...
...that is hanging around a nursery pond canal? What ever it can get in its mouth. Almost every hybrid that we collected had largemouth bass fingerlings in its gun. They averaged around 50 fingerling in their stomachs. One hybrid had 172 in it. A couple were also eating crayfish that were coming out of the pipe. We will need to rethink our strategy of protecting the crop that we release. This was one of the best crops that we have raised and it is painful to see that all of that hard work go for almost nothing.

Starting this winter we will be conducting some research on hybrids and walleye in the lake. Depending on the results, there may be some future changes on the way we manage these species.
