Thats about what I do on my throw away cars set I just add the oil. The 94 altima I just sold had 284k on it and I had driven it for 5 years. Other than brakes all I ever did was put maybe 8 qrts in it over those 5 years

With that much oil involved I'd be looking into a bypass filter. Lots of companies make them. I've not used one but I've read they dramatically extend your oil change interval by removing a huge percentage of contaminants. At the price you quoted for your oil change, it wouldn't take long for the bypass filter system to pay for itself.

Here's a few places to research if you're interested in the idea:

15qrts was what it took. But as always nothing ever goes to plan. Pulled the oil filter and noticed the base looked not normal. Seems the last oil change somebody used the wix cap and filter. Off the country ford in the morning for a new cap.

Any motor? After reading this thread, I asked two different professionals and got two different answers. Not sure which one to believe, but I sure would love to have my oil changed every 10k. I push it to 5k, which is 6 weeks if I'm lucky. 2002 Ram 1500, it's the 4.7 gas engine, 6 qts.
