Thread: Banned Members

There's a group out there, of mostly x-members that keep attacking the site and it's members. Why they continue, I don't know, but they continually try to recruit members to turn them against us.

All the banned members involved were given many, many chances (with plenty of communications) but were persistent in “online bullying”, pushing the envelope and making the site not “family friendly”, or they were just turned by this group and flew off the handle on the site one day posting personal attacks and other really nasty things.

If you've known me for any time at all, you know I absolutely hate to ban members, particularly members that have been here for a while. Even now I try to reach out to some of these members. All we want is a nice friendly website. I'd let some of them back on if they would only tell me what's going on.

I'm not trying to understand it, but I'm here to tell anyone still on the site that is remotely part of this group, that we will always remain family friendly. If you don't agree with keeping it family friendly, please just move on. No hard feeling. There's enough other sites out there to share disgusting posts and hate on, we don't need crappie.com to be part of that. Besides, you agreed to keeping it friendly on here when you first joined the site anyway, don't know why you can't abide by that signup agreement.

Joking with members is fine, but crude sexual innuendo is not. Look at it this way, if you would not want to have to explain your post to a 7 year old niece or nephew, don't post it. Back a couple years ago, Don G once sent me a PM thanking me for keeping Crappie.com “family friendly” and that he so enjoyed reading Crappie.com with his grand daughter, knowing he would not run into something “risky”. And it's not the only thank you message I've received about keeping the site this way.

Online bullying (deliberately harassing another member) will also not be tolerated. It can often be very subtle but eventually (and the more it happens) it becomes easier to spot. Particularly if the victim reports it. And please do report posts. Moderators can not read each and every post. They need your help too. Plus, the earlier a bad post is caught, the less chance that something will get out of hand. Lets all work together to prevent flame wars (a heated argument resulting in personal attacks) before a member gets themselves in trouble.

I really don't know why this subversive group continues to persist. Maybe they are just jealous that we have a nice friendly site here.Or maybe they are jealous of me owning it. Believe me, I am not making a killing off the site (I give away more than I make). In fact last year is the first year I made any sort of money from the site. Yes, it's pretty much been in the red ever since I first started it, costing me more than it's made. And even last year what I did make was way, way less than minimum wage. So if you have a minimum wage job you made more money than I did last year! If I did not work fulltime for years, and if wifey did not work full time right now, crappie.com would not exist (thank you dear, there's a light somewhere in this tunnel). And if we did not have all our wonderful moderators that work for nothing at all, there'd be no crappie.com. This I can guarantee. Anyone that as ever tried to start their own business can surely relate. It just ain't that easy. And an Internet business is no different.

What I don't understand is THEIR motivation to stir things up. Not the reasons that they were banned.

Maybe you need new friends!

J/K - Trying to lighten it up here - I know some of them guys are great guys, I've met them at camps, and believe them to still be my friend. But I too just don't understand it.
