Another way to add the weight like Scott does is adding a 3 way cross line swivel instead of the loop knot. Our water is a little clearer and I use a clear or flouro 4' leader to the crank. I added a splitring & snapswivel to the middle swivel. I can snap the 3 oz weights on/off quickly when moving or when done for the day. Will take a pic next time I run them.

What do you think the crankbait is doing in correlation to the weight? Wouldn't a 300 run deeper than the weight vs say a 100 or a rat-l-trap...

It would but not much Blue. Since your leader from your weight to your bait is only 3 or 4 ft., you might have a 300 running a ft. deeper. I'm fixing to try the Ala. rigs with horse heads on them on my pushing poles.

[QUOTE=E-Z Poleholder;1896673]Now that makes more sense to me. A square plus B square equals C square. Got it..

Dont for get the 2,4,5 and the 6,8,10 rule.

What I have, some 2 oz, 3 oz and 4 oz weights. Jus gonna have to get out on the water and experiment.
good tip on the line angle tho..[/QUOTE

    I believe thats 3 4 5

Like a down rigger ball!I use 3oz. of lead and a leader about 2' long.Works great!Sometime I even do it off the back of the boat and it still works. You can watch your sonar and see your baits perfectly and know you are right in the zone! My.

Two cranks can be fished on one rod too (like a c and c rig). Up top use a smaller floater on short leader and longer leader and diver on bottom.

But you have to be really careful that you don't get stuck by that second bait while trying not to get stuck by that first bait!
