Default What do you guys think.....

My Hummingbird up front always worked perfect. It was mounted on the front deck. I took it to BPS and had them put it on a 13" Balzout. Very professional looking job but now every time I step on the button the depth changes dramatically, goes nuts. Take foot off the pedal and perfect. Connection problem, interference, what? Chime in with any and all sugguestions, thanks.

Electrical I'd guess. I have same problem. When not trolling or on full speed no problem but anything else I get interference. I gave up trying to clear it.

What you describe sounds like you have a variable speed trolling motor. I would guess that there is no problem at 100% but anything less creates the problem. If that is the case you are getting a pulse frequency as the motor turns on and off to regulate the speed. There are several possible solutions to try. PM me if you want and I will call you.

There was never a problem until I moved it off the deck and on the Balzout. I wonder if they had to splice the cable or something?

Even getting wires moved around could do it. If they happened to move wires around under bow panel to gain more reach/length and got them laid against the power cable of the trolling motor. I would pull the panel off and try and separate the wires.

Sounds to me like they had to do some residing and got it hooked to your trolling battery. Check connection and make sure it is hooked to cranking battery.

That coming from a guy who did not even install my new units. Maybe my electronics installer "CrappieThumperMK" will have an idea. That dang half day of fishing with me got expensive didn't it??? Them Balzout mounts are sweet.

I'm the kinda guy who would take it back to BPS and tell them they need to lick their calf over again.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
