    Default I Pilot Remote Issues

I got a new Terrova 112 back in March used it a couple of times with no issues then all of the sudden the remote started acting up and only working intermittently and sometimes when I go to turn the motor does nothing, then all of the sudden it will swing all the way around. I thought maybe it was a weak battery in the remote so I replaced it still having the same issue. the guy where I bought my boat told me to call MinnKota and tell them I needed a new remote just wanted to see if any of you have had similar issues as well before I did that.

May need to hook it to a Bird and do an update. Only issue I have had with mine is forgetting to charge the remote and it running all the way down.

Mine is not rechargeable I did replace the battery thinking that may be the issue it was not, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by hooking it to a Bird can you elaborate for me.

You must not have the Link then, that is what I was reffering to, different animal. That being the case you have got a defective board in the remote or the head unit one, call Minn Kota and take it to a warranty tech and get it fixed. Have heard of it with several Gen 2 Ipilots but have not heard of anyone having that issue with the Link so far.

I had exact same problem. I have two remotes and got the same result with both remotes. I contacted MK and they said to first check the connections in the head to make sure they are good. If that was not the problem, it was probably the control board in the head. The remote is not the problem in my case. Not fun when trolling and tap a button to make a slight course correction and the thing swings all the way around. Mine also would not respond at all at times. I haven't done anything yet. Still busy fishing for now. When that cools down, I'll probably deal with it then.

I have found that sometimes the loss of GPS signal will cause the same problem. But call for sure.

I am not sure this is a remote issue, it sounds more like a voltage issue. Have you checked your deep cycle batteries and all connections? Do you unplug the trolling motor when charging, if not then it's a control board on the trolling motor? This is what it kinda sounds like, but needs to be brought to service center to test. Calling over the phone is just a guessing game. Test simple stuff like batteries, connections and then take to your area warranty center.
