CMJ and I have talk about this the other day. I been out and see the same fish hanging day after day. I believe is show the dysfunction of our AG&F. We'll make another law but will not in force what we have now. If they get out of there trucks and off the 4 wheeler, I bet they fine some law breaker. Only time I every seen a warden in the water is at the red river looking for the striped carp fisherman's. I'm no trying to be disrespectful to you Matt for your hard work on conway. But your warden suck on conway.

Gindog , remind me to never fish with you on Conway cause I don't need a ticket from a PO 'ed warden.

Lol Bob! Let me say this, I think that the previous wardens were up there in age and had gotten a little lax in this area. The new wardens are a couple of new/young guys and have a little more to prove. They proved that they were willing to act when they were given a tip, (not by me) about some illegal snagging at the 89 Bridge. Several tickets were written and the problem was stopped, for a moment anyway. I think that we can accomplish a lot more with these guys if we work with them instead of bashing them.

Printer just run out of ink I'll stand on my words and be glad to let them know who I am.
If I break the law give me a ticket and I'll try to do better next time. But when I go to conway day after day and you see the same yo-yo/line with the same fish hanging on them someone not doing there part. I never see a fish with a cell phone making a call to warden. I have called and talk to the lovely lady and come back the next day and the same fish still there. Someone did not do there job. I did all I can do other then cutting them down witch is unlawful for me to do right.

Russ how often do you see a officer on the water in conway? I have never seen one, I only seen one in 4 years at a boat ramp. Maybe I'm at the lucky ramp

Saw some about a month ago loading up at pierce creek. Its been awhile since I been checked on the lake...but I do know this... they are really good about coming out of nowhere and getting you and will man handle you until they are done with ya. It was not a pleasant experience...they play no games. Be careful what you wish for.

Kinda gotta give a pass on enforcement right now. It has been turkey time and fishing time and they can't be everywhere. I imagine they are doing as much as they can. The AGFC can't do it all themselves even at times when multiple season aren't open. It is up to us as sportsmen to make it hard on the violators by reporting flagrant acts of violation. I have been checked many times, mostly while duck/goose hunting and a couple times while fishing and I don't have any desire to be checked ever again just for the simple fear of not having dotted every i and crossed every t. Since I started going to Lake Conway in 1983 I have seen a giant step in the right direction. When you turned on the road leading to Paradise landing, just over the interstate, there is a big cove. That cove would be a maze of yo yo's I'm guessing by the hundreds hung on boards nailed in a T and then attached to stumps or trees. I don't remember seeing this anytime recently. Hopefully progress will continue to be made to ensure that all legal methods of fishing are done in a "legal" manner. What I mean by this is that what is supposed to be tagged needs to be tagged and what is supposed to be kept in sight needs to be kept in sight. It is a possibility that some yo yo's, trot lines, or limb lines can be misplaced if they are placed in an unfamiliar area. In this day, if a person is fishing in on an unknown lake with several yo yo's, a gps could help ensure that all equipment is found and removed when it is no longer being used.

Just this past year during duck season, I was cutting limb lines, trot lines, and yo yo's that had been placed in the spring and never removed. Many of these were tied to trees on our private property that often is flooded during spring, but dries out in the summer. This is a hazard to people and animals, wild and domestic, both boating and on foot, who happen upon these. Please, if you do fish with something you can leave out over night, be sure you remember where you put it, and remove it when you are through fishing.

Let's all do our part to try to make our hunting and fishing better.

Nothing more dangerous than motoring on a lake that water levels fluctuate wildly like flood control COE lakes. Folks leave yoyos , limblines and trotlines hanging real often and hooks can be eye level!

I have nothing against yoyos when fished properly, but I hate to see wasted fish dangling on a line though. I say report them and/ or cut them down. You cut enough down at $2 a piece eventually it will hit them where it hurts.

Just be careful what you ask for I have been checked by some very professional GW's, but I would hate to know there was a GW behind every tree on Conway looking to write tickets. If you have actually seen their copy of the regs you would understand that they could find you in violation of something at any point in time. Their book looks like a dictionary and ours will fit in a back pocket.
