Hope it passes quick for you! I have not had one but know from family how rough they can be. Wish I had some words to ease the pain for you! Hang in there and use the pain meds!

I took my wife to church Sunday then planned on grilling some burgers then going to visit with my Mom. While I was grilling, I felt a deep pain in my left side. I had never experienced a kidney stone but had a really good idea that was what I felt. I ate a burger then decided to lay down and hope the pain went away. Not happening. About 3:30 my wife insisted we go to the ER.
After an hour wait with me hurting so bad I wanted to die, we finally got to see somebody. Had to answer a thousand questions, most of them repeated from the last person who came into the room with a computer. Finally they put an IV in and started me on pain and nausea medicine. Up until then I had just had a queasy stomach but no throwing up. A trip to x-ray for a cath scan and back to the room to wait for the results. Yep, 4mm stone. Before I was dismissed around 8, they gave me another dose of pain meds. I didn't make it home with my wife driving before the vomiting hit. Thanks goodness for zip-lock bags. A full 1 1/2 hours of dry heaves later, I got to bed and actually slept some. Soon after waking up this morning, the dry heaves have started again.
This really stinks!! Badbrad and Wilbur are here at the lake and I am wanting to hook up with both of them. Chaunc and his brother are going to be in town the end of the week. I've got to get this situation resolved but have a pretty good idea that things will work out when they work out. My impatience probably won't help.
I've probably not been real sympathetic with folks who have kidney stone problems in the past. How much pain can come from a tiny piece of something our body generates? I know 1st hand now and it really hurts to be me right now. Got to go talk to Ralph on the ceramic telephone.

You have my sympathy. I had one a couple of years ago & it put me in the fetal position on our bathroom floor. Dang that hurt. Finally after a similar process in our ER they gave me a non narcotic pain reliever(Can't remember the name) & the pain went away instantly. Like flipping a switch. They told me that I would pass it & sent me home with a screen/meds but I never saw anything and the pain never returned like it was that first night. Good luck.
I wish you the best, and hope you pass it real soon.
i feel your pain, worst pain i have ever dealt with, and there is nothing you can do to relieve it with pain meds. when i went to the er for mine they kept trying to get me to lay still but i couldnt, i had to be up moving. that was until i got the morphine, then i was good. lol
Ive had 16 of them when I get one I drink lots of cranapple juice and I usually pass them

Never had'em, and hope I never do !! But, I can sympathize with you on the ER visit ... as I spent 4hrs in the ER last week, answering the same series of questions to every Nurse, Doctor, Intern, & Attending MD that came to see me.![]()
But ... having worked at that Hospital for 45yrs, I knew what was coming & why.
I already knew I had Bronchitis/Pneumonia ... and after a EKG, breathing treatment, chest xray, BP & Temp taken, stethoscopes listening to me take deep breaths, and answering the questions ... "Do you smoke/how much/how long" - "Do you drink" - "Do you take any meds (legal/illegal)" - "Are you allergic to anything" - etc, etc ... my diagnosis was confirmed. Yep, I was right ... Bronchitis & Rt Lower Lobe Bacterial Pneumonia.
Hope you get to feeling better, Mrdux !!

Hang in there, hope you get better quick.
30+ hours and still haven't passed the stone. Just now feeling like eating anything and that is mainly so I can take some pain meds. Haven't had any pain meds since last night. I normally have a high tolerance for pain. This is pushing my limits.
