Anybody ever

Had a furry creature steal a fish off your line? Mowed the grass at the new place this afternoon and decided to jig the sea wall while I was there. Hooked up with a 2lb green carp and was trying not to break my bucks ultra light, tryin to play him out. All of a sudden something swirled on top of the fish. My first thought was a 3 ft long cat was tryin to get him. A second later it felt like I had that 10lb braid tied to a submarine headed for deeper water. I straighten the rod hoping the line or hook give before the reel or pole did. Hook straightens and a little otter lookin creature pop up about 10 ft away with my fish in its mouth. Now I feel like a dummy and start askin myself if otters even live in this part of the country... Know it wasn't a nutria or beaver. What was this thing? He was cute but if it had been a crappie we may have had a little problem. I don't catch enough fish to contribute to charity

yep....sounds like a otter......we have them up here in my neck of the woods

they will destroy a fish population too, best be shooting them!!!!

I've seen otters while duck hunting in the McIntyre Scatters.

Could have been a mink. Used to see them once in awhile on oxbows.

Duckhunter you mentioned the scatters. Grew up hunting there. Good memories there for sure. Have not hunted there in a few years. Mo money , bet that was an otter. Agree with Rees. They will destroy a fish population. But they are cute

Well I'll have to try to take care of it next time I'm over there... Makin sure I wasn't losing it. First one I'd seen, I have to fight the gar most of the time, now this? Think I'll test out my new suppressor on him
