I'm trying. I wish this site had a glossary of fishing terms and lingo.

Shorts are fish shorter than the legal limit. Sardis 11 in, Butla Enid Grenada 12 in. Fish has to be longer than those numbers to be legal. I have my golden rule for measuring fish marked at 11 and 1/4 and 12 and 1/4. If they don't touch that mark it goes back.Slot limit is another animal altogether. That means in most cases any fish in-between two numbers must be returned. Let's say Slot on Bass 12 to 18. Anything between those numbers would have to be returned. If you see something you don't understand just ask. Some one will help you out. Great thing about this board is there are no dumb questions.

Why you care to get checked unless you are breaking the law? Ive been checked 4 times in the last year and everytime the wardens have been nothing but nice.

Ditto handi. I always welcome the wardens to check me thank them for doing there job. They don't have it out for us fisherman. The man writing the tickets was telling the folks when they got upset that he wasn't the one to catch and keep the short fish, but since they brought it in he had to write them a ticket.

You cant be mad with them for doing their job, have never had a bad experience with a warden.

I've only had one bad exp. with the possum patrol in my life ( and i won in court ), i know they are just doing their job and respect them for that. That being said, i dont have to do half their job for them, if i'm in a boat on the the lake they can either come out on the lake and check me, or check me at the ramp, i do the same when fishing at the spillway, i wont stop fishing and walk up to the top of the rocks for them to check me, they have to walk down to me, i'm not doing anything wrong, so why should i have to stop what i'm doing to make their job easy for them?, and dont say out of respect and courtsey, because that wouldnt be showing any on their part by wanting me to come to them.

had a couple boat up to me one time. they ran through the only top that we were catching them in. they motored in and grabbed the gunnel like we were gonna run off. they checked us and turned around and prop washed us when they went on to harass the next fellow. they were in the 99.8% that give the rest a bad name.
