    Default First time for me

Was idling across Malcolm creek on Ky Lake this weekend with my poles still in the rod holders to start another drift and disaster struck. Had about a 15lb carp jump in front of the boat and do its best to wreck my expensive 16 ft pst poles and scare the jeepers out of my brother who was still sitting on the front of the boat. For good measure the thing jumped into the side of the boat by the steering wheel to let me know what it was for sure. Know it was the same fish because I watched him swim around and get me in his crosshairs. We averted a total wreck but this could have been bad. Heads up folks it can happen at any time.

Had this happen to my dad and I Saturday morning in Jonathon creek area. Scared us pretty good. I've been around the Silver carps jumping and have shot a few with the bow, but did not expect it happen there. Wish the crappie would of done this.

I had about a 20 lber blindside me in Blood River last spring when I was running about 15 mph. Felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat. I'm glad it hit me in the ribs instead of the head though, that would have made for a bad situation.

He looked Asian from where I was sitting but I might have been profiling him a bit from all my experiences on the backwaters of the Miss river. I have had them hit me about everywhere but the head and they sure do leave a mark. Couple years ago would have never guessed it could happen on ky lake. Afraid it's going to become normal now.

Just wait till the lake lice with the jet skis and cigarette boats get out and get them going. Nobody will get serious about them until some politician or a family member takes one across the mouth.

Or loses a child by being knocked off a jet ski by a 40lb jumping demon...

They are getting so bad below Kentucky that you can't spider rig there anymore. Last time I went, I hooked four in two hours, after untangling my lines four times I left and haven't been back. I wonder how long it will be before the lake is the same...sad times are coming.

A week ago I was making my approach to Ky Lock with 16 barges on the Lake side. About 1200 feet above the upper guide wall I ran through a school of hundreds of Asian Carp. First time I've ever seen them right there. It literally rained carp for 5 minutes when I stirred that water with a 4000 HP boat.

Anyone that doesn't believe these things are going to destroy the fish'n in these Lakes is kid'n themselves.

I believe it's high time some of us locals get together and do something! Even if it takes a trip to Frankfort or haven forbid, DC., I'm up for it. Millions of dollars of revenue is fix'n to be lost in the future if something's not done quick!
