    Default Chains

Someone told me today that it was illegal to slow a boats drift by dragging chains in Arkansas. Not that I'm coming to your state to drag chains...just wandered if it's so.

No, it's not illegal state wide. There are some waters, mainly below the dams of the large reservoirs, where chain dragging is illegal. Something to do with trout.

I think these days there are fewer folks dragging chains as many have went to socks. Like many places, it depends on the lake also.

I have not been told that its illegal, unless you are in the trout rivers, and then it is. And I don't fish for trout very often, unless its the green kind.

Don't say nothing to Canepole about chains. You will get an ear/eye full. DP

Chains are prohibited in SOME of the tail waters because they tear up the habitat and destroy the redds (spawning beds). They can also be very dangerous.

I recently bought a few wind socks, man they sure make a big difference in the wind. Love them! Have never tried chains before.
