Yes sir i was talking about you. I was with a buddy of mine fishing off to your left when that happened.

Sad and funny all at the same time.

Glad to see you still visit us. I knew I hadn't ran across you over there in several years....

I truly don't mind sharing a spot if I know the person. I've done it several times on D'Bone at the gatherings, or on Cypress/Caddo, when another CDC member was there that I knew. To me, if I have two poles in the water, I've got a chance, so they can mosey up to me and we can visit. But, for total strangers to do that would really rile me up.

Have a friend who said his dad always kept a pistol with him in the boat, and once held it up and told a guy to move his cork or he could move it for him. Funny, and extreme, but I could see that happening if you sneak up on a fella with the wrong temperament. I think if you want a particular spot, you should get up earlier and be the first one there. Otherwise, wait your turn and be respectful of the first guy. Hasn't really mattered much to me lately...been too busy to go fish! Wife says I need to say off here because it keeps upsetting me to see all the good fishing going on and I'm missing it. lol.

Cc06 it was great to see you again and to share some fishing stories with ya. Most of you might remember the incident that I had on poverty with a guy last year. I've seen him several times in the last couple weeks and we've had no other problems. The nerve of some people that can only stand behind the phrase "this is public water" simply blows my mind. Whatever happened to common courtesy and simple ethics. Someone made the comment of just getting to the spot first or getting there early. That doesn't work over here. Most of you that know me know that I fish from sun up to sundown. I had a guy come in on me today after I had been there since 6 am and act like it was his spot. I'm not a professional by any means but I can usually catch fish regardless and probably catch some when someone else can't. I proceeded to move away and fish another spot while he got his 8 rod spider web unhung from the brush pile. I would like to blame it on the out if state guys but the locals are just as bad. I also carry a pistol with me in the boat but it is only for the safety of myself and my loved ones and I also have a CCP. I'm not gonna stop fishing here or anywhere else because of stupidity but the class act fishermen are a dieing breed in this world. I'm not hard to find on the water. I fish out of a bright blue xpress with a minn Kota talon and a sticker on the motor that says blue thunder. Anyone feel free to come over and say hello if they see me anywhere and I will share if I'm catching and if you are and I'm not then do the same. I was talking to someone the other day about how crappie fishing is growing. That's a great thing because fishing can bring families and friends closer and I truly believe it can keep kids out of the streets and out of trouble. I love this sport and for me the scariest part about it is one day not being able to physically do what I love. I'm sorry for the long post but I needed to get that off my chest.

showing a pistol in that manner is considered assault and you can be arrested for it....it is not funny, it is serious.....anyone who has completed a CCP course knows this.....

    Hey CC6,

I've learned to stay away from the popular hot spots for just the reason you state. No place better IMO than the Atchfalaya Basin for getting away from the crowds.

CC06 you are dead on. I was there Friday afternoon fishing the north end not the bank just easing thru the ten foot water. I was catching one here and there. I would not even have fish in boat yet and here came someone bearing down on me. I have came to the conclusion that a perch fisherman has now officially entered the same category as a duck hunter. Which I am an avid duck hunter. I try to stay away but I really enjoy fishing the lake most of the time even with a crowd. I have been fishing it since day one that it opened. I thought I saw you over there Friday was on my way out and hung a 2.8 pounder

Ditto, excellent comment Bruce, thank you. I was taught that when I pull my weapon, I use it, and it's over with. Period, there are no threats involved. Threating folks like that is bull..... Not there are any weapons around here

If you crank up and do a few figure 8's around their boat they might get the hint and move on....lol. Personally I will tell them something.

guys, don't get in a tizzy because I brought up a story about someone with a gun. When he told the story, the funny part was how fast the guy jerked his cork back and trolled off. I was just making a point that, besides being completely rude, crowding up on a stranger isn't safe either. Only time I've ever had a gun in the boat was 20 years or so ago and it was loaded with rat shot for snakes. Certainly I don't condone waving one around at anyone. Apologies for hitting a sensitive spot with anyone
