What do you guys consider to be a reasonable and respectful distance from another fisherman's boat? Just lookin for an average consensus.

GETDANET I wish I would have seen you I was telling my buddy about you on the way up to the Point. 20watt a guy did that to my brother Monday morning after he missed a bite tied up at a tree stump its really ridiculous. Blue again I enjoy every visit with you and I appreciate you watching out for my brother he doesn't always take my advise but he sure listens to you so hopefully he is learning something I guess its just an older brother knows best thing and he turns a death ear lol. I just wish I had more time and money to afford to stay a little longer, you know I'm there sun up to sun down too because I have a perch jerking addiction I just can't shake. It wouldn't be so bad sharing a spot if the person would say hello, where you from, are the fish bighting, do you mind if I share your water but to just pull up tight lipped and throw on top you just does something to you inside. If I ever get to close due to wind or I'm hung up trying to get free I usually apologize and move out the way as soon as I can its just common courtesy. Well off the water for a day I feel a little better but just a little.

Rt that wind was so tough that you couldn't take your mind away for a second without being blown off 30 yards. I was raised to say " good morning" or at least hello. Some of these people won't even speak to you.

I will not fish there just for that reason, I fished for five years after that lake started and was sick of the rude turds that were on that lake . I saw three fights and several cussings go on there so I moved on . I fish for enjoyment it's not relaxing to be around rude people when fishing. That's why I don't social fish or tournament fish , it just brings out the morons that are rude. Just my two cents worth that's probably not worth a cent.
The fish were bitting yesterday, The fish will bite tomorrow,,, today I must buy my fish

My neighbor told me about an incident he saw at Hwy 2 bridge on Darbonne a few years ago. He said an older gentleman was tied up to a bridge column and catching a few. A younger man came up tied off and started fishing right beside him. The older man asked if he didn't see him there; no response. The older man proceeded to "Whoop" he with his jig pole. The young man never said a word as he left..........

In my opinion it varies, depending on how the person is fishing. If it is winter and the person is vertical jigging and nearly stagnant, then the respectful distance isn't bad. In that case I give the person 10-15 yards just in case they are working a spot, because they need room to manuever and etc. The tricky situation to me is when a person is trolling and working a bank. You don't want to just cut in and work the bank ahead of them. On a place like the Point, this is very difficult because you may have 100+ boats trying to fish a few miles of bank.
I rarely have any issues with anyone being too close (in my mind) because I vertical jig a lot of the time. Most of my issues come when I am casting a minnow. I like to stay off of my target by 15 yards or so and people will set-up between you and your target. Heck, I don't even mind if you cast to the same brushpile, even though I don't think it is the right thing to do. Just don't cut me off to the point that I can't fish it.

I'd rather fish in an area with less fish and be alone than fish in a crowd. People are becoming less considerate every year. It's hard to explain. A couple of years ago, I had a boat pull up twenty feet in front of the bank I was fishing down and start fishing. When I said something to him about it, his answer was "Hey, I caught some fish here this morning" ???? How do you reply to a remark that stupid?
I'm the same way. I'd much rather get away from the crowd and only catch a few then limit out playing bumper boats. It's so much more enjoyable when you don't have to fight with everyone else.
