I've always used fluorocarbon but plan on giving braid a try after reading your posts. Wish I could remember where I read it, it may have just been one persons opinion. Thanks for the info!

I'm going to give it a try too. Do you always use a leader and if so how long?

    thanks

I never use a leader line ... but, if I did, it would likely be no more than 12" long. I figure if I'm getting bites on my jig, tied directly to braid & having a splitshot sinker no more than 8" up the line from the jig ... and the fish don't seem to pay the sinker any attention ... then they're not likely to pay any attention to the braid/leader connection that's a foot away from the jig.

Don't know if it is required but I put a mono backing even on my spinning reels. I don't use a leader or anything. I tie loop knot directly to jig on my casting outfits I spool 6lb hi viz and let her go. This works well for me at least.

I have used 4 pound braid. I tie a hook snap on with a palamor knot. I may or may not tie a six inch leader to the snap when adding a jig.

i am using bonehead braid in florescent orange. works great for me, no line twist at the tip, ties knots well. i use a loop knot on jigs, i cast and drop jigs. i have no problems with it.

8/1 Power Pro is great stuff. And I can straighten light wire jig hooks when I get caught in the trees where the fish live.

Didn't see any 8/1 Power Pro braided line but I did pick up a spool of Power Pro 10/2 in Moss Green. Combined it with a new Shimano Reel that is made to handle braid. Can't wait to give her a try in the next couple of days or weeks.
