Was planning on going to lake Blackshear but got a good report Saturday and decided I better go to Talquin. " The PA -in- LAW" and I launched the boat at 7:30 from Williams and started fishing. Bite was pretty steady. Caught most of our fish deep on bubblegum. Thank heavens for Litewire Hooks. We stayed hung most of the day. I did caught one big MOMA SLAB up the river in 5 fow. (2.1) Brought 17 good uns back to GA with us! I honestly don't think we could have done any better. I even got to meet a fellow CDC member!

MulletHead, It was nice to meet you guys yesterday. That was a nice box of fish. I should not be so bull headed and fish how everyone else was but NO we were determined to catch fish spider rigging adn didn't ! I sure need some of those lite wire jig heads we spent half of our time rerigging and I bent my prop up. I think I better stay back over to the west, but all our rivers are flooded. Hope we meet up again and with a name like mullet head you may need to come to Pensacola this summer and we will throw the castnets.
Sorry I missed you.......fished all week from Saturday to Saturday and spent most of the time from Williams to Bell Lake. We caught some in the williams flats but most of our fish came from the channel. See one limit of 50 that would push 80 pounds but they stayed all day and culled. The females are getting ready and many males are shallow getting ready for them.........should be great next few weeks. DNR was out in force this week but did not hear of any violations......

DNR pretty picky about when they check you? How deep in the weeds do they get? Since I'm an old man they can't hassle me about a license.
Thanks.

We were just down from Williams Landing on Friday and we were on some good fish. There was 3 game wardens (in 2 boats) on the dock in front of us talking to some folks fishing off the dock. One of the game wardens was actually teaching someone how to cast a rod and reel. We probably trolled by them 5-6 times and they would speak or comment on us catching fish. I just knew we would be checked but when they left, they both just waved at us as they rode by. We had a great weekend catching fish at Talquin this weekend. I have heard Bubblegum was a good color. We did the best on Electric Chicken which has Bubblegum in it. Actually, I think we caught fish on just about every color we tried.

Yes sir. We had a good day. I believe with Talquin being so close to Pat Thomas school it really benefits fishermen especially those of this site. I was told that most cadets learn how to maneuver boats on this lake. It don't really dont bother me when the MAN checks me. I always know I'M legal. But when you take someone with you kinda get scared when they open the ice box. I tell every one I fish with to Make sure that rascal is 11 inchs. That way when he hits the ice and gets cold he wont shrink too much. Back in 08' when I first moved to Georgia I was fishing pretty heavy in the Keaton Beach area. I caught a trout that was 15 inchs according to the lid on my ice chest. About 4 hours later the MAN pulled beside us and measured that fish and he was just a hair over 14 inchs. $250 later I decided I might invest in a better measuring tool!! But all in all, Im kinda glad Talquin is patrolled regularly by the FWC.
