I went fishing down in Carolina again on Saturday morning, and had a real good trip. That creek is a very beautiful place to make the morning run:

Sometimes, I wonder if I should just stay in bed, and go fishing later in the morning. On other days, I know exactly why I try my best to get there before the sun comes up. This past Saturday was one of those days:

Those sunrises truly are a blessing, but I they aren't the main focus of my efforts--let's not forget what we really get out of bed for:

After that spectacular sunrise, I was treated to a very good fishing trip. I only counted five other boats during the half-day fishing trip I made, and I figured that was not bad for a beautiful, calm and warm Saturday. I ended up catching 26 crappie before leaving shortly after noon. I don't normally keep that many fish when I go, but this time I kept my limit of 20 fish. I was regretting it during fish-cleaning time, but was smiling when I put those bags of fillets in my freezer. I was pushing 4 baits on long rods in front of the boat, and tight-lining 2 shorter rods on each side. As I usually do, I sweetened jigs with minnows for bait. I caught these fish about 8 feet deep in 12 feet of water. The fish were hungry, and bit any color I put out. Water clarity was fair to good, and the temperature had risen from what it was two weeks earlier, 38 degrees, to 51 degrees. A couple of the biggest fish were just a little over 13 inches long:

Good luck everyone. I hope you get to have some fun fishing, real soon. Dean

Nice report Dean. The pics are great. I'm like you, like to get out as early as possible. I'm usually getting ready to head in by the time some of the boats are heading out. Good job on finding some fish. Great report.
