    Default Weedless Jigs?

Any body using em? I tried the Do-it weedguard 1/16 & 1/8 round heads once and couldn't seem to set the hook.

I've tried them in the past but lost to many fish. Now I'll just put a soft berkley power nibble or wiggler and put it over the barb of the hook. The sickle hooks are sharp enoughto go right through the bait into the fishes mouth.I hardly ever lose lose a fish this way. This isn't totally weedless,I still get snagged up a lot but if you aren't getting snagged up you aren't fishing where you should be.

I only use them when fishing really thick cover. I miss very few fish at least on a good bite. If they are just slightly taking it or the fish are running small, I don't worry about missing a strike now and then. Overall, it is well worth my time to be able to fish really thick cover/brush and not have to retie all the time. I also use them to see if the fish in the deep cover are active at all. If they are, then I can fish a regular jig on the outside of the brush/cover.

after you pour the jig head cut a few of the bristles out to make the guard thinner this will help some on the missed bites

I just don't care for them and don't really loose all that many. I do fish heavy cover and many times if I get hung up I can get it loose. Plus I figure if I am not losing some, I am not fishing the right places.

Well, gentlemen .... I fish them 99.9% of the time, casting, jigging, and I don't "miss" very many bites ... nor do I lose many, if any, fish .. once they're stuck.
I fish them "anywhere" ... heavy cover to wide open water.

    When casting -
If you try and "feel" the bite ... a lot of times the fish will have time to spit the bait out, resulting in missed fish.
If you try and "see" the bite ... you'll set the hook the instance you see line movement, and you'll hook up more often.

OK .. yeah, I know this thread is 5 years old ... but, for the sake of those just now viewing it, I don't want them to think that weedless jig heads are going to make you lose or miss fish. Nor do they cause fish to not bite a jig. Were these things true, I wouldn't have caught many fish over the last 30+ years ... since I've been using weedless jigs of various mfg's throughout 99% of the time, in those years.

LOL, Wish I had noticed that it was this old. Also your right they work just fine, just my preference is I don't use them as it's too much of a pain to deal with when tying my own and painting them. I would rather just loose one, but last spring I trolled stump fields all the time and got hung quite a few times, but I bet I didn't loose over 2 all 3 months. I did wear a few out though, LOL! Believe it's best to just lock this thread and let it go peacefully.
