Default Winter Storm PAX ~ Everyone Please be Safe in this Very Serious Winter Storm Event!!!

Everyone, Please take Winter Storm PAX Very Seriously.

It has all of the essential elements necessary to be a historic winter storm with some very serious impact to the southeast and the high potential to put millions of people without power across our region. This storm has it all: Arctic air feeding in from the north; lots of moisture feeding up from the gulf coast; and a low pressure system off the east coast holding it on us. Please... everyone be thoughtful, careful and prepared through this very serious event. Please keep us updated on how you are or were impacted by this storm and if you need assistance... of course... as having continued power and internet service permits.

Also be mindful that the wildlife will be drastically impacted as well. They can use our help during this time when all of their resources are covered with snow and layer of ice. I was careful to buy all of the provisions that I thought my family and I would need over the last couple of days and I also bought a big bucket of mixed seed for the birds and other small wildlife that are faced with toughing out this very serious winter storm too.

Thoughts and prayers with everyone in harms way. Hopefully it will be less and not more than we all are properly prepared for.

It's putting down here! Almost time to get out in it and play. First I'm going to check my generator out, make sure it is ready to go.

Thank you, Special K. The birds also need some flowing water from time to time. Sometimes the finches will flutter at our kitchen window seemingly to remind my wife of that fact, since there is plenty of food available.

Good point about the water Crewmax... I love to watch the birds year around and have several feeders and bluebird houses around the yard that I watch every morning while I'm having my breakfast and morning coffee. Sometimes it looks like a bird exhibit out here. Be safe all and stay warm.

We have a huge cedar tree at the edge of our lawn where our woods start and a couple of weeks ago, during our first storm, that cedar was covered up in robins and bluebirds eating the berries. Those were the most brilliant blue I have ever seen!

Got my tubs filled with water so we can flush when the power goes out. gas logs and gas pig cooker grill, plus a Big Green Egg to cook on. Hot tub as long as we have power!

The vegetable soup sounds pretty good red... I'm sure a lot of others are cooking some kind of hot soul food that goes so good for this type of winter mess. We're doing a homemade chicken noodle soup here and plan on some hot grilled cheese sandwiches with it and I'm about ready for a big ole' bowl of it.

Well so far so good... it looks like we've had about 5 - 7 inches of snow so far and it has just quit snowing and has changed over to what looks and sounds like fine sleet hitting the windows. Sleet is ok with me... just don't need much of that freezing rain. I was just watching the news and it appears many major highways around the Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham areas are gridlocked with thousands of people stranded in their vehicles. I hope they get home ok. Man it is going to be treacherous driving tonight and tomorrow morning. Be careful everyone if you must venture out on the roads.

Took over 2 hrs. to get home from Greensboro this evenin, takes 20 min. most of the time.
Water pump went out on lil truck, it's fixed and the shop closed, so don't want to mess up the boat pullin truck in the mornin.
So I will put on a crock pot of beans and enjoy the snow Thur.

Started snowing here around noon(Seven Lakes in west central Moore county). Roads went from clear to solid white in 20 minutes. Snowed until around 3:30 and we got around about 4.5 inches. Switched to sleet at 3:30 and has been falling every since. Not what a high school softball coach wants on the 1st day of the season.
