I've got to go to the hardware store. I've got a brain storm to start Spider-Chaining and I will need at least 5 more chains out the rear to match the spider-rigging poles in front. Do you fellows use longer chains on the outsides and shorter ones straight out the rear? Should I use 14 or 16' chains?

Right or wrong, people complain about things because they care.

A bucket or sock sucks in current. When the water is actually pushing the bucket or sock from behind it is useless. A chain is what I use most of the time, except when longlining and I don't think I could part with it. A chain in my boat when pushing is just as important as my trolling motor or depth finder.....it's the most important element of boat control which results in catching more fish.

surely no one was dragging chains lately around pumphouse,tn, it is locked up tight with ice. I was all over that area today, I could only make it back to port or (sulphur branch) on the big sandy. Fished there most of the day and didn't catch a single fish. Didn't drag any chains either by the way.

Consequently that and the behavior of some of its finest citizens, sarcasm, have me searching for my fishing entertainment elsewhere. I am not without sins, these however are not on my personal list. Before i get flooded with responses, i am not equating this with chain usage, i am only stating that somewhere along the line alot of people felt it would be o.k. to treat God's wonderful creation as if it were their personal trash can and that my friends needs to change!

I hear you. And it's not only on the water/banks it's everywhere here where I live. Worse than any countryside that I have traveled in other states. Some people are just really stupid & lazy. That's what it boils down to. Didn't mean to highjack, got nothing to do with chains.

Right, lol, 2 ten foot coated, whatever that means (rust protection?) chains, 1 off each side. We are only allowed two poles here in Illinois, not an issue with me and my buds, we use a sock for what its worth.
