    Up with baitcasters down with spinning, if not, you are stressing the rod against the spine. I did have a few baitcasters with the wrap around guides which are attributed to Bud Earhardt, good idea but I didn't care for them.
    You can't catch fish from the couch.

    guides down for spinnin and up for baitcasters but I would like to remind folks of the fun a lot of us had with no guides - just a line and a good ol cane pole.

    I remember those days SlabSlayer. Back in 1951 at the age of six I caught my first crappie using the good old cane pole.
