Default Boat Contact With Concrete Ramps

Does anyone know of a keel guard that will stay on aluminum boats. I know several companies make then but have'nt heard of one staying on over a year. They will stay on glass just fine.

No. I had two come off in a matter of weeks. Some of the better aluminum boats are built with a double thick extruded keel for this reason.

Got a hole in my boat. Took about 5 years its .125 thick. Concrete loves aluminum. ATM you should have a extruded keel. Sea Ark boats do the ones they sell now anyway. Mine don't. 1/4 inch plate would do the trick

My SeaArk has the double keel for a thickness of 1/4 of a inch....I am going to put a keel guard on top of that.....Tush Hog has had the Keel Guard on his for about 6 years now I think without any problems. The folks at Keel Guard told me that with proper surface prep it would stick to aluminum better than glass on certain aluminum boats ( depends a lot on the shape of the keel).....dunno, but already have the Keel Guard so when it warms up I will try it.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

At Sardis at least, better yet. Why don't they add some floating docks for us to park boats? They want to preach about safety but can't even give a guy a safe place to pull the boat up if the wind gets up. Can't count all the boats I've seen sunk at Holiday Lodge. Yet they spent no telling how much paving Wyatt's when its not even usable 9 months out of the year and there was not a parking issue to begin with. And adding the same off HWY 7 for a handful of people to use. Should have spent all that on a nice ramp at Piney Point on the east bank. That concrete will eat the alluminum up in a hurry. OK. I'm done venting.

7 ramp is a joke. No way that the boat launching fees will ever pay for that ramp in my lifetime. It's primarily used by bank fishermen anyway. Wyatt's concrete is also a joke. That money could have gone to lay more gravel at Indian mound to park and widen that ramp. Put some boat beaching pads on the concrete ramps. Also mark the river from Holliday to 7 Bridge. Geuss Iam wishing to much.

All I can figure is politics and someone pocketed some money on a side deal with all of that. Hell, even at the lower lake they have a dock to pull up on and its the last ramp I'd say even needs one. I keep thinking they'll get out and re-stake that ditch going out from Holiday also with stakes high enough to get out long after the water comes up. No telling how many boats swamped by people that don't know to stay in the ditch and get swamped once they lodge on the ground. I've seen a lot go out and turn back east and its over with if waves are coming. Ok. I'm done ranting a 2nd time.

My boat is an 860 Wareagle and the keel has a doubler on it. I just can't stand the sound of aluminum dragging on concrete. I do my best to stay off of it but the wind or the truck parker sooner or later is going to make it happen.
