Default using Jacobs old molds with small porthole here is a adapter.

I don't know how many of you guys have Jacobs old molds with the small porthole we come up with a adapter to fit them which is very simple and you can buy the stuff at any hardware store here are a few pictures to look at we used a half inch adapter down to one quarter threaded and bought a half inch adapter to less than a quarter inch you'll have to cut the brass down a little bit and you may have to bore out the porthole in his molds a little bit but here are some pictures for you to look at to give you an ideal the adapter cleans out real good no problems on removing the plastic we tried it out this morning and it works like a dream we have quite a few other molds made by private individuals with the same small portholes and we try to mount on them also the adapter works fine on all of these molds.

Bob, do you think it would support a blending block safely without breaking the brass reducer? Would it be safe period? Thanks for that big time helpful tip!CF

yes it will support a blending block to you what I will try it out tomorrow I'm a little bit concerned about the small porthole but I will give it a shot if it works all that you know but no problem on supporting the blending block most your pressure is straight down on the adapter you are not going side to side and besides that you would have to really been that hard to break it. I just wanted to share this with you guys because I know there's a lot lot of the old molds out there from Rick I don't think you can break it it's pretty tough anyway I will try the dual injector tomorrow and let you know I think it should work just fine.

You are better off clamping the mold together with a c-clamp, putting a countersink bit in the drill press and boring the opening out slowly if you think you need to open it up. All of the small pieces and parts will haunt you and that nipple may be 1/4" pipe thread but the hole is 1/8" or so. Slowing down the plastic flow is definitely going to create issues on some baits.

ctom not all the Jacobs molds have enough room to make a bigger porthole by making them bigger some of the molds have a very little room because you're channeling of the plastic it just apparently underneath the opening some of the other molds you Plenty of room to make a bigger porthole by drilling a bigger hole in the reason why I made this adapter is because the molds that I have had very little room underneath the porthole is if you went very much you would ruin the channeling of the plastic so if you guys are going to make the opening on Rick's old molds bigger by using a milling tool you want to be very very careful I do not recommend doing this for most you guys if you are not used to working with shop tools you could ruin your mold very quickly the adapter is a lot easier and a lot simpler to make in you definitely would not ruin the mold .

The one that I made up works fine with the blending block but you'll have to cut the galvanized fitting down so the blending block will set on top don't recommend it it is a balancing act and I don't want anybody to get hurt so the original blending block that I posted works fine we used a dual injector today on a cut down version of my blending block it did do quite well but a little tricky you would cut the thread it in other galvanized fitting down passwords threaded cut it off and be careful if you do this it is a little bit of a balancing act with the blending block sitting on top of the reducer I only recommend again the one I posted here yes Rick should make up a few more of them or on his molds he's making now he has a bigger porthole but a blending block does not set properly on it so most of the ones that I buy I reamed them out so the blending block will fit in his newer molds.
