Spot lock is a very small part of the functions of the I pilot, don't use it much but the more I use the better I like it, does it hold me still, no but it does allow me to manage multible poles while fishing by myself. For the multi-pole fisherman it IS the cats meow. Will have the link by summer, either upgrade my Terrova or replace it with a new 112.

I think the Terrova/IP combo is GREAT for long lining, the spot lock feature is so so. I use it for staying off a dock while dock shooting, and it will allow you to drift a bit which allows different angles for more shots, and then it will pull you back in a slightly different way, and more angles. some of the best $$ spent IMO.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

If spot lock won't hold you and the wind gets up just hook up the foot pedal and use it like cable steer.

I would give up my 1198 and my 997 before I would give up my Terrova.

Cray that's what I do is use the foot pedal. Love the spot lock for many reasons but in light winds it works great for brush pile fishing. Heavy winds it is not very helpful for the brush pile fishing but many other features makes it my goto ATM.

thanks guys for info it will be a few months before i commit but might take someone up on a test drive in the future. I realy like the idea of brushpile fishing in a fair wind without hassle while removing fish ( jig fisherman mostly )

Too noisy... I like peace and quite. I wish Minn-Kota could work the noise out of them. I just don't want to hear that constant BZZZZZ,BZZZZ,BZZZZ all day if I am going to spend that kind of money on a TM. If your mainly a troller YES Like Shane said get ya one of those, but remember its going to cost ya to hear all that noise. LOL If your a vertical jigger go with a 70 Minn Kota Maxxum. It is the best deal out there for the money and I can still troll well with that just fine and the GPS on my electronics.
