Henry has the smoothest action of any lever gun made. Octagon barrel just looks better to me, been eyein me one fer a while now. Varmint model in 17HMR with fiber optic sites is awsome, wish they made it in .22
Minnermatics Prostaff
My wife lets me buy all the rods and reels I can hide.
I have 2...well, the be's do. Both of em shoot $80 an hour with no problems and both were manufactured within the last 3 years.
Wannabe...v2.0
A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
i have one of the henrys and really like it. mine is the 22 mag. shoots true and no problems. killed a bunch of hogs with it.
Henry makes a very high quality rifle for the money. Either will serve you well. The heavy barrel is cooler but it's heavier (duh), so if you have young shooters you may want to keep that in mind.
Be aware that the rifle has a very low comb and you'll find that a good cheek weld is nearly impossible. You can't really put your head down and go at it. Granted, many really good .22 shooters don't actually use the sights for much. My old man can look down the barrel and steer the bullet by the strength of his will.
10/22s are great, reliable rifles. But, they're semi-automatics. You have to clean them every now and then.
I learned to shoot on my grandmothers Remington model 34. Sweetest shooting .22 ever! Was purchased in 1936 and will be passed down to one of my sons.
