Being successful on the water includes several variables, but being comfortable with what you use, and how you use it is most important. If you believe that fish are looking at your line and not biting because of it, they probably won't bite.

I have been in a boat with two others on a very clear lake and we were using all the same jig, they were using 4# & 6# mono but I was using 4# floro and catching all the fish.

If the fish are biting on some color of green don't use a green tint line - seeing different lines side by side is believing. Thumbs Up

Single jiggin' & casting":
10# Suffix Braid (Flouresent Neon Fire)=.008"
When new it's a little stiff but after a few good fish it
breaks in and good for a year.

Straight lining with heavy jigs or my drop-shot system:
20# same brand & color.

Yeah, it take time to get used to braid but the benefits
are too long for me go into on a single thread.


Works good enough to get ya a #1 spot on the big board.

I've read all you coments and I was wondering if you spider riggers have noticed that when you are slow spider rigging that you catch more fish with, non stretch braid, because it sets the hook better on the fish with the pole being in a rod holder. I would think this would be a benifit of braid over mono spider rigging. Also when spider rigging do you use a stiffer pole , and braid so the fish sets the hook better?

I don't like a very stiff rod when spider rigging....can't see the light bites. I use Capps & Coleman or B & M Prostaffs. Line is always Berkley Vanish Transition 6# for everything.

I too have been in a boat were all three of us used the exact same set-ups, right down to the same rod and reels. One guy was not catching a thing and he was fishing the same spot we were. I mean the exact same spot. I'd pull my line out, he dropped his in the same spot, nothing, he pulled out and I put mine back and bam fish on. The only difference we could figure out was he used a different hand soap than me. Sometimes its more than line, technique, etc. Smell plays a huge roll too. Seen smokers in the same situation not catch a thing too. They bait up with the other hand and fish on.

I only use Big Game Trilene mono on all my reels. Prefer 8-10 lb. test for Spider-rigging and 30 lb. for Striper and Catfish. Ive used this line for years and Quality is outstanding. BB

My line of choice isn't in the poll. I have been using Berkley's new Nan-o-fill. This line is not a braid and not a mono nor a floro. It's made of dyneema fiber, but it's not braided. It's white and works great on spinning reels. It has absolutely no memory, will not spring off the spool, does not wind knot. The only problem I have with it is that it is so slick that it's hard to tie knots; especially if you try to use a leader.

I have fished all kinds in both. Try them out and see what works best for you, each has its advantages and disadvantages. Just like people have their own personal favorites. If you fish it and can catch fish on those light bites and feel confident in it, then that is the one for you. Just my 2cents.
