I don't know Andy, might have to bring a boat. We've had ice quite a few years now, seems like it could be one of those years.

I sure hope it's not one of those years, however I know we are due one with no ice fishing. Keeping my fingers crossed we can at least get a few days of ice fishing in this year.

JNP, I'm just curious as to what lakes in SD you catch those big slabs thru the ice? I have family that live in the Flandreau area, so I might have to come up there to get some ice fishing in. We need some of that cold weather down here that you guys have been having up there. I think I'm getting ice fishing fever & have no way to cure that anytime soon. LOL!!

Most of the lakes in the Glacial Lakes area of N/E SD have nice gills, crappies, and yellow perch. If I were after crappies, Pickeral Lake would be my first choice and for bluegills, it would be Richmond Lake by Aberdeen. Richmond has a solid population of gills in that 9-11" range. Pigs.
The Pickeral Lake crappies are on a high cycle right now. Limits can be easy. Most are around 9-12" with larger fish present.
For nice yellow perch, is really tough to beat Waubay Lake. Probably the most consistant perch producer in the country over the past 10 years.
