Thread: Good areas near Beckley?

My wife has family in Beckley and are currently driving up from central Florida to stay for 3 days. I brought some travel poles and light tackle. I'm wondering if there are any areas close by worth going to this time of year and area. I hear it is uncharacteristicly cold for this time of year. I bought some waders. I have never been to WV or really river fished. Any advice is helpful.

I know this is too late to matter now but for the future, Glenwood Recreational Park has a lake that is stopper full of small crappie. About 10-12 years ago, my old boss took me there (he grew up in the area) and it was a lot of fun. We bank fished and caught at least a hundred. They were all 7" but still fun. 1/32 jigs with crappie nibbles was the bait we used.
