Dang.... just learned that the lake I knew of as Horseshoe Lake is called Rutherford Slough. Saw that there is a Horseshoe Slough a few miles north.

Yup before the carnation farms bridge.I dont think theres any fish in it though.

If it holds water all year round it should have fish.

Well..The deal is i fished the heck out of it for a while and couldnt get anything, somebody probably bucket stocked it since then. I really think so because last year i saw somebody fishing it a lot. So I dont know maybe your right Bill.

Hey bass a quick question for ya, Durring this time of the year bass will come into the shallows to soak up the rays (right?), now if there is some overcast then the bass will head back deep, correct?

Nope. I was out today when it was overcast and caught one on a jerkbait in 2 feet of water on the first cast.Teh sun makes the fish wary. Then when the sun came out I caught 1 more in deeper water (4ft) on a jerk bait then caught 2 more on a spinner bait (3.5 ft). And the biggest fish of the day was on a popper (1.5 FT) ( the last fish too). I was fishing a real small area that had a 68-71 degree water temp.In case you were wondering it was The Slough.LOL.Seriosly it drains to the river so the state classifies it as a slough but its really just an oxbow.A person I know was out there and caught 2; one on a buzzbait in the pads and one in a shallow brushy area on a lizard.

So the answer to youre question is. The fish are shallow most of the time ( given exeptions like cold fronts ect ect) but the move into the cover more when the sun comes out.

There was my 9.5 footer and a 12 there today.If you have 4 wheeldrive and a light boat I would say boats up to 14 feet if you have a friend with you.

no not yet I took a look at the map a few times but have not found it yet, what is the water depth like?

15 feet in the winter, 9 in the summer. Right now its about 12 feet and real marshy but its fun to fish because the bass move back into the marsh and you get to do every type of bass technique from drop shotting (on beds) to burning spinnerbaits.. Hint >look north and follow the river .If you think you got it, pm me.

I see.Seriosly if you want to get into bass go to any of these little sloughs and fish them until you can establish(spelling?) what works.Then you can cathc fish almost every time. I spookked a huge crappie today to. It probably would have went 15 inches.Try horseshoe lake by carnation if you want to get into bass or crappie.You have to use a raft or float tube but we've put 12 foot aluminums in there.

Theres no wind problems.You will have to slide your boat through 5 feet of blackberries but that shouldnt be a problem because some guy fishes it every Wensday.

Fish some smaller ponds. I saw a lot of crappie staging in 2 feet of water yesterday.
