I have had some great luck on Bandit cranks, Senkos and hoola grubs on a jig hook! The big thing this time of year is cover lots of water (run & gun). If you start sticking some fish then S L O W down and get all of then in that area. I'm not saying fish fast, I am saying fish even slower if you are in a location with bass!!!!! Some good spots are: Waldon island, Timber point, hemlock creek, West pilings, Roger's rocks (early), Costalota, Down by the road (grave yard area) and docks. One big key for the crappie is Fish a SMALL Styrofoam bobber with the jig about 18 inches below the bobber. If you would like getting right next to the brush try tying a one inch square from a Styrofoam coffee cup as your float. Why I do this the Styrofoam does not orbit the crappie jig on the cast, it acts like a parachute and makes casting accurately much easier. also you can adjust the Styrofoam so it barely floats and you will catch more crappie this way cuz they just pull the Styrofoam under water and they do not know you have them! Styrofoam over plastic bobbers cuz of casting accurately!

I use them around shallow rocks they work better than cranks in that situation.
