Did your cod liver oil post spur an Omega-3 advertisement to appear?
It did on my screen. Coincidence maybe.
I might try that Dood, as you said, most of the hyped prepared scents are overpriced.

For those who use crappie bites or any fish scents. Try some Cod Liver Oil on you plastic baits. I convinced that it improves the bite.
Been using it smallmouth fishing for a while and it really has improved the bite
"power" . Started putting it on my crappie grubs recently and it seems to be working on the crappie or at least they aren't rejecting the bait.
It's pure fish oil, so it's a natural sent. You can purchase a 10 0z. bottle at the pharmacy. Lot cheaper than buying brand name scents or "Power Bait" grubs.
I get a small soda bottle an put a few ounces in it. Dip the grub into the bottle and shake off the excess oil while it still in the bottle. Do this to keep the oil from getting where you don't want it. I dip about every 20 casts. Usually I put a few drops of CLO in the bag of grubs if they come in a zip lock bag and let them simmer over night. Doesn't take much, one drop goes a long way.
Give it a try you will be surprised.

Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
Doodlum sounds like good advice. I think I'll get me a spray bottle and fill it with cod liver oil and spray my minnows while on the hook before I put them over the brush. Talking about cod liver oil, I can remember my two brothers and sister getting in line in the early 50's and my mother having a table spoon in one hand and a bottle of cod liver oil in the other hand. We would hold our noise and take it down the hatch.Taste stayed in your mouth the rest of the day.

When demostrated a flame thower for the first time, Chesty Puller looked at the weapon then asked, "Where the heck do you attach the bayonet?"
I've soaked my flounder bait in WD-40 before. Really seems to help.

Yep sure did. No respect. I have a built in camera in my computer, would be surprised if someone is not watching me.
Basic ingredient in most of the liquid prepared scent is CLO. They just don't use a lot of it. Don't really like my baits to smell like garlic or liquorish.
CLO works good on a plastic lizards when bass are bedding. Tried with and without CLO on smallmouth. Make all the difference in the world.
Watch the oil slick the stuff gives off. Again don't go slopping the stuff everywhere. You will definitely go home smelling like fish.
