Apparently, the Diascund slabs don't like dark clouds, wind, and rain. After recent successes on several spots, I hoped to find them hungry today. Not so. I marked fish in most locations, but could catch only two keepers and lots of dinks.
Sorry, Tap, no pix. My camera isn't waterproof.
Gars snatched several minnows throughout the day but they all spit out the hook or broke off.
Fishing since '50!

Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
keep pluggin cork.
Never take the advice of someone who has not had your kind of trouble!
The bass weren't biting well yesterday, either. A veteran carpster (40 years @ Diascund) reported a poor day as we were pulling out. Naturally, I had to tell him that I'd caught a 17-incher on a tiny crappie minnow! :D
Interestingly, the perch bite was good. In the same place I caught the big boy on Monday, smaller perch were whacking my minnows whenever I could get the boat in the right position (wind & driving rain finally got the best of me.) I hooked something in that spot that was very substantial & now think it was another large perch & not a large speck.

Tried for LCR stripers again. Went up on the Appomattox to get some bait. Took me a couple of hours to catch a dozen right size shad. Got to LCR at 11:00. Water/conditions looked great. Only one other boat there. Went towards the bowl, trolled plastic on the way. Did not mark any fish on the way or at the bowl. Hooked up the live shad and trolled to the dam, went up the right side of the lake to the pump house, went up about a half mile in the right side cove, fished all the way back down and around the bowl and to the green marker. Not a fish, not even a good hit, and did not mark but a fewfish. Got to the dock, picked up the crappie rod and caught a nice looking 3# LM and three crappie in a few minutes. Started to rain and they were about to close. Don't know where those fish go but they have a good hiding place. Should of stuck to the crappie yesterday.
Talked with a that was at WM and no fish. You had a bad day. Yesterday was just not a good day, the bite was not happening.
Water temp was 69-70 ,the fish should be moving around. Did see a few bait starting to school up. Bream are starting to bed but only saw small ones on the beds.
" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
See you stayed in. Good move. When it was pouring down rain yesterday I kept thinking what you said...."Wish I had stayed in bed". Power naps today.

you can use balloons blow and tie around your line and pick the depth one good thing is balloon hits rod tip and you can wind line on in through the balloon and they are easy to see,,,,I catch small croakers or perch and always put out on a balloon as well ....when I green carped alot wormed the banks and drug a balloon ...I been poor all my life
