My nieghbor had a good catch Saterday in his jon boat probalby less than a mile from the Ramp and I have caught plenty in my 14' jon when the skiff was out of commision. I got a spare room with a bed for two (or one Male:D), a pull out couch, a blow up matress and there is a brand new hotel in Town 10 min from the Ramp. Sedge, none of your old holes are any good any more so dont try them, Unless of course you are fishing with me.:D:D I plan on fishing this weekend so I will give a report.
So do you think that I will be alright in my 14 footer or should I leave it at home and catch a ride with someone else. I have fished the main lake at Buggs in the wind (that water can get pretty rough in 20-30 mph winds)... my boat is wide and fairly stable.

You will have more options in a bigger boat but a winning fish could very well come from the area's your boat can access safely.

I'm thinking that I might try to make a trip down that way on the 17th. I'll shoot you a PM and let you know once I work out some of the details. Might have to make it a multiple species trip!!! What are some good places to crappie fish while I am down that way?

That will work for me. As far as Crappie, I can check and see if I can bring someone to a private lake that I just got access to that is near where we will be croaker fishing. Or, we can follow up on what I have been told about crappie being in the back of a creek about about 4 miles up river from where we will be croaker fishing.

Blake most of the big croakers are saught shallow this time of year 6' to 9' of water leading into deeper water....drifting amongst the freshly put out crab pots is a good choice as the water is scented up with herring and such ...put out a chum bag and drift lines just past it and hang on !!!!!!!!!!

    Question

Ok---I did not read all of this but it sorta sounds like some croaker get together is about to take place. Please keep me in the loop on this one---I like to catch them rascals too!:D

I did not see a date or place, what are the plans?

So far was has been discussed is doing a little croaker tournament or get together at Jones creek ramp here in Smithfield either labour day weekend or the first weekend in June. Nothing has been decided for sure yet but we should decide something soon. Check the croaker thread on the off topic forum.
