I arrived at the launch in the Northwest River a little after sunrise, and ran the boat to the spot. The water temperature at the surface was 45*, and I had lines in the water around 8:00 am.
I found fish scattered 5 -6’ deep, in 8 – 12 feet of water. For bait, I used a hair-jig and minnow combo. By 12 p.m., I was packed-up and heading back to the landing. In the four hours I fished, I caught 11 crappie, 1 yellow perch, 2 white perch, 3 pickerel and 6 green carp. I kept 7 crappie and 2 green carp for the table.
