Decided to hit the river today since it was the warmest day we are going to see for awhile. Well woke up and it was 25 degrees, so I took my time before hitting the water. Pushed the boat in the water at Bob's a little after 10:00am and had 38.7 degree water at the ramp. Went down river and the water temp dropped another degree not very encouraging. Round a few bends in the river getting close to the park and come up ice all the way across the river. Break through that and continue to open water. Started fishing around 10:40 and finished up at 2 pm. Ended up catching 15 crappie with 11 keepers in the 10 - 11.5" range. All fish were caught in VA waters. Most were caught 6ft down over water depths 8- 12ft. Did catch one female yellow perch around 11" long as well. Can't complain considering the conditions.
