    Default This coming full moon

I know that this site is dedicated to crappies but ive seen some pics of shellcrackers. I remember a couple of years ago around this same time with the moon in June that the shell crackers were on their beds.Sure hope that I can squeeze a day away to go catch some.

Shellcracker generally spawn several times each yr, usually all way thru August. They just go deeper as it gets hotter. the side imagimg units will help ya find those deeper beds or do like we used to, drag a worm around on bottom close to the places ya see'em beddin earlier in the season. Red worms or 1/3 of a Nite Crawler. I used #6 Kahle hooks as they snagged much less. Plus they usually hook'em in the corner of the mouth, like a circle hook, in case its a giant that ya wanna release. and that's the way to sustain a fishery that produces giants, release them! I love catchin the giants but eatin the average size. the bigologist say it take 6-8 yrs for most brim to reach the giant size. Hope this helps!
