Buggs Report 11-22-2014
Had another awesome day fishing with GeneC at Buggs. The morning started off chilly with the boat ramp dock covered in a heavy frost. Undeterred we eased the boat away from the dock and on to our first spot. It didn't take long to land 7 nice fish there before the action slowed so time to move on. Errr, errrr, motor won't start. Cranking battery dead. Oh no. Gene rewires everything and off we go. Fish a couple more brushpiles that are stacked with fish. Time to move Err, err, oh no second battery dead. Starting to get worried. Gene rewires everything again and we are off again. Now down to just using the depth finder up front for most of the day to save the one remaining battery. Stuck close to the ramp area just to make sure we could get back. Anyhow almost all the brushpiles we fished were stacked with nice crappie. We ended the day with 122 crappie with over 100 of them over 10 inches up to 13-1/2" Fat happy black crappie - I'm guessing on the happy part as we released them all. Bait of the day was a Kalin curly tail fished on a 1/16 oz jighead retrieved over brush that topped out in 8 to 14 FOW. Water temp 51 degrees. We didn't get to fish some of the piles we wanted too but no complaints here as we made it back to the ramp as the sun was going down. Gene thanks for another great trip. Last few trips we have averaged over 80 crappies caught. Lots of smiles and laughter. Don't get no better than this. Thanks Elaine for letting me use your "LUCKY SEAT". Can't wait to do it again.
