    Default Quick meat trip

I didn't plan to fish today but the thought of fish tacos jumped in my head this morning. So within a few minutes I loaded up the minitoon and was on my way to nearby Chris Greene Lake. This lake used to be my nemesis but after investing a few seasons learning it I can finally count on enough pullage to make a meal when I want it.

Going to get minnows would add 45 minutes so I hit the water with my stockpile of jigs. Within 60 seconds of launch I had a fish on while trolling away from the ramp so I knew it would be a good day . Over the next 3 hours I did pretty good, maybe catching 20 or so crappie and another 10 or so trashy toothless gar (bass). The size was the usual 8" to 10" and I kept the 4 biggest for dinner tonight.

The hot jig for today was a Kalin's 3" lemon meringue curlytail on a 1/8" head. 99% of the time a dark jig works out best for me but this lemon meringue was getting most the action! The fish I caught were suspended 8 to 12' deep over 14 to 20' of water. I really love the thump when they hit that jig!

You have to love a local spot that delivers a fish every 9 minutes!

Great pictures!!!!!!! It just takes time to learn a body of water. Makes it worth the effort

Nice catch, you see you don't need minnows and still caught plenty of fish.

All the fish had empty stomachs. In fact I rarely recall catching any crappie here that looks like they have been feeding. What's up with that?

When I read his post again I thought for sure he was a minnow man. Great job on the jig fishing Wassabi
