Thread: Not a crappie but ....

Crappie fishing for me at my little honey hole has really slowed down the last few weeks. Always seem to catch a few but it seems the big girls have moved on to greener pastures. Ben working on the shellcrackers pretty hard. Been trying to get 10 to get my expert patch. Finally got there with 2 nice crackers today. Caught about a dozen or so mostly 8 to 9 inch crappie as well. Was shooting the dock with my little 1/32 oz stinger style jig with my 4 pound test line, got a little thump, set the hook and oh boy finally a nice crappie. Then this big ole bass came jumping to the surface. After a hard fought battle I was able to get my hand into her mouth and lift her on the dock. She was 23-1/2" long and my little jig was stuck firmly in the middle of her upper lip. Guess she was just looking for a little snack. Looks likes she was still spawning as her tail was still bloody. My 1st citation bass. Have been close before but finally got one. Took a few quick pictures and then released her. Life is good.
