    I'd start with checking out the local airstrips. I can't think there would be too many red and white planes with pontoons in this area.

    Is is this even a crime?

    it was a spotter plane and my gps was down so he was giving me a heads up

    Maybe an Omega spotter plane. Keep a look out for net boats.

    did they have fishing rods stuck out of the cabin?
    My wife swears I only do enough surveying to support my hunting & fishing because I'm too busy hunting & fishing !
